Michael Ford, DVM
As an Air Force brat, Dr. Michael Ford lived in many places as a child. His extended family lived in western Kansas and so most of the Air Force stays were in the Midwest. He went to the University of Kansas and graduated in 1991. He then went on to Kansas State University, where he graduated from the veterinary program in 1996. Soon after graduation, he moved to Reno to start his career. He started with a practice in Sparks and briefly moved to California. The people of the Truckee Meadows called him back to this relatively new hospital on the south side of Reno. He has been with Galena Veterinary Hospital since July 2001. In December of 2003, he purchased the Hospital from Dr. Julie Soule.

Dr. Ford's family consists of his wife Wendi, who is a professor with the Veterinary Technician program at TMCC. They have two children, Thomas and Taylor. The rest of the family consists of 2 dogs, 2 cats, 1 bird, and 1 rat. All but two of the animals were rescued or adopted after being seen at a veterinary facility where one of the Fords worked.

His interest as a practitioner is maintenance of the health of your pet so that he/she can be an integral part of the family for many happy years. Some of his other time commitments and interests include reading, gardening, cheering for Jayhawk sports teams and being a part of his church. He is highly admired for his compassion, patience and his knowing communication with animals here at GVH!
   
 
Wendi Ford, CVT
Wendi Ford was raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa and has always had a soft spot for animals. She graduated at the top of her class from Omaha College of Health Careers in March 1991. She then worked at a few small animal veterinary practices in Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska. She, then, transferred to Kansas State University in the summer of 1995 to be the day nurse for the Intensive Care Unit. She was responsible for treatments and care of critically ill dogs and cats under the Board Certified doctors at K-State. She was also responsible for helping teach senior veterinary students some technical skills that they would carry into their careers.

It was at K-State that she met her husband, Dr. Michael Ford and she moved to Reno in 1997. She has worked at Baring Blvd. Veterinary Hospital and the Animal Emergency Center since coming to the Truckee Meadows. In 2000, she was contacted by Truckee Meadows Community College to help write basic curriculum for a new Veterinary Technician Program. As the program advanced, Mrs. Ford became more involved in the program and until recently was the program coordinator and a professor for the first accredited veterinary technician program in Nevada. She is still a professor with the Veterinary Technician Program, but is no longer the coordinator. At Galena Veterinary Hospital, she is the owner with her husband. She provides nursing duties on Saturdays and takes care of management duties during the week.
   
 

Lisa, LVT
Lisa was raised in Reno. She attended Reno High School. After working as a veterinary assistant for many years, she enrolled in the accelerated Veterinary Technician program at TMCC. While working full time and taking care of her son Joe, she also took 2-3 classes each week night for 2 years. In May 2005, she finished at the top of her class (the first class of technicians from TMCC). She has been a part of the staff at GVH since August 2005.

Lisa's family includes two sons, John and Joe.  She has two pets: her cat Libby and her bird Ollie. 

She enjoys anesthesia and critical care of patients.
     

 

Kimberli, LVT
Kim grew up in Hawthorne, Nevada and graduated from Mineral County High School in 2000.  After graduating Kim wanted to pursue her interest in photography so she started to work towards an art degree at TMCC.  After getting her Associate's degree in Fine Arts she transferred to UNR to get her Bachelor's degree.  When Kim heard about the Veterinary Technician program offered at TMCC, she decided to apply because of her love and interest for animals.  In May 2007 Kim graduated from the TMCC Veterinary Technician Program and began working here immediately after. She was recognized as her class representative and is an active member on the Veterinary Technician Advisory Board for the Vet Tech program. She has served as vice-president for the board and is currently the small animal representative. 

Kim is happily married to her husband, Brock. They recently had a daughter named Brooklyn. They have one pet dog, a Miniature Pinscher named Shaq. 

     
 

Priscilla, Receptionist/Assistant
Priscilla was raised in Sparks, Nevada and graduated from Reno High School. She has been a part of the GVH staff since January 2006.   She has attended many seminars in management and dog training, particularly in structure and nutrition.  Priscilla  is highly admired for her knowledge in animal behavior and correction. She enjoys laughing, spending time with her Rottweilers, dog training, herding and watching tennis. She is also currently the coordinator of our Puppy Socialization Classes.

Her pet family consists of Rottweilers and a Papillon.
     
 

Tammi, Receptionist/Assistant
Tammi was raised in San Jose, California and Reno, Nevada.  She graduated from Galena High  School. Tammi started working here at GVH in August of 2006. She is currently a student at TMCC, working towards her Associate degree in Applied Sciences/Veterinary Technician. She was recently accepted into the Veterinary Technician program at TMCC and will start that in Fall 2010. She enjoys cooking, reading, camping, and exploring ancient cultures! 

She is happily married to her husband, Jason, and together they have two children, Christopher and Mercedes.  She enjoys spending time with her two dogs (a German Shepherd mix named Kiowa and a Poodle named Elvis), her three cats named Apache, Pawnee, & Sioux, and her parakeet named Elizabeth.

     
 

Tina, Receptionist/Assistant
Tina was raised in Incline Village, Nevada and graduated from Incline High School. She started working at GVH in December of 2006.   She is currently attending the University of Nevada, Reno working towards a degree in Nutritional Sciences with a minor in Spanish.  She plans on pursuing a Veterinary degree shortly after finishing her undergraduate degree. She has also taken classes at TMCC for her EMT certification.  Her interests include horseback riding, traveling, camping, and cooking. 

She is engaged to her fiance, Chris. Together they have one horse named Solly, three cats named Mai Tai, Ming Ming, & Macio, and a Miniature Dachshund named Moose.
